Livery
In addition to ten fields there is a large 19th
century barn with eight spacious modern boxes and two large covered yards.
During the winter all horses are turned out during the day and are inside
at night. As mentioned above, all horses can be seen from the house, and
when turned out permanently in summer all horses are individually checked
at least twice a day. The horses are kept in groups, depending on age and
sex.
The
horses are fed excellent hard food and first class home grown hay from
fields that are never grazed
by horses, in order to try and prevent parasitic infestation. All boxes
are cleaned daily and the horses are being given very comfortable beds of
straw. Pregnant
mares and mares with young foals come in at night, even during the summer.
Rearing weaned
foals
Foals can be brought to us after weaning and can be reared here at le
Colas Chavet. Because of life out doors, daily exercise and growing up in
a group, young horses have the opportunity to develop under the most
favourable circumstances, which will influence their character as well as
their skeleton and feet.
Pregnant mares
A
number of horse boxes has been reserved for pregnant mares, which can foal
down at le Colas Chavet. As you would expect the mares are being watched
by way of a camera during the night. Apart from the foaling process, your
new born foal will also be made familiar with a head collar and being lead
etc.

Retirement / Owner
working abroad
If you would like to offer your horse a well deserved retirement, then le
Colas Chavet is the right place. The one condition is, that your horse is
healthy and doesn’t suffer from any chronic pain, so that it is capable
of enjoying the last years of its life.
If you have to go abroad for a certain amount of time, your horse can kept
at livery here at le Colas Chavet until your return.
Fees
The
livery charge for your weaned foal or mature horse at le Colas Chavet
depends of course on the horse’s age and the extend of your horse’s
stay. Prices start at €175,= for one month. Included are stabling, pasture, hard food, hay and straw, daily
cleaning and normal daily care. Not included are farrier’s fees, worming
and yearly influenza and tetanus vaccinations. Also not included are
veterinary fees and transport fees. In case your horse needs extra
attention, like extra education because of behavioural correction, then a
fee for this can be negotiated.

Insurance
Although at le Colas Chavet everything will be done to keep your horse in
excellent health, it is advisable to get your horse insured before it
travels to France.
